Nonprofit hopes to use old school building

BRANSON NEWS: An organization hopes to take over a decades-old former high school building in Branson and transform it into a cultural and performing arts center.

Southern Missouri Arts Connection President Donna Rastorfer and Executive Director Gregg Busch discussed their plan with Branson Tri-Lakes News last week.

The nonprofit organization, also referred to as SMAC, was founded in 2014, Rastorfer said.

“Then-mayor (Raeanne) Presley was going around to the different neighbors trying to bolster community and strengthen neighborhoods — encourage identity,” she said.
