Area legislators oppose tobacco amendment

BRANSON NEWS: Area state legislators are among those who recently came out in opposition to a ballot issue that would raise cigarette taxes in Missouri and help fund a newly established Early Childhood Health and Education Trust Fund.
Sen. David Sater, R-Cassville, and representatives Jeff Justus, R-Branson; Don Phillips, R-Kimberling City; and Lyle Rowland, R-Cedarcreek, were among 19 senators and 91 representatives who joined a coalition to oppose what they are calling “a tax scheme.”
