Ash-West advances in Ripken World Series

Ashburnham-Westminster 10, Ohio Valley 0: Corey Aubuchon was 3 for 3 with four RBIs and three runs, and Sam Curtis was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and three runs, to power Ash-West past Indiana in the final day of pool play at the Cal Ripken Major/60 World Series in Phenix, Alabama.
Ash-West (2-2) advances to double-elimination bracket play, and will face host Phenix in the first round at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Curtis also tossed a four-hit shutout, while Caleb Allen added two hits and an RBI.
Alabama 6, Hudson 0: Alex Thigpen’s two-run homer buoyed a five-run sixth for Florence, Alabama, which shut out Hudson in continuing pool play of the Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series in Branson, Missouri.
Hudson, also blanked by Maryland, 11-0, on Sunday, concluded pool play 1-2, and will face Colorado in a consolation bracket tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Max Person and Eduardo Rodriguez had the lone hits for Hudson.
