Better Business Bureau report: Branson timeshare industry ‘deceiving consumers’

They are particularly fond of Big Cedar Lodge and were heartbroken by the duck boat tragedy on Table Rock Lake late Thursday.But the Springfield residents said they don’t love what happened to them when they tried to get out of a Branson timeshare contract they entered into about 15 years ago.The Rushings said they paid $4,995 to Escape Resolutions, a Springfield-based timeshare exit company owned by entrepreneur Travis Dibben. And Dibben and his company never refunded their money.Instead, the Rushings said they finally paid $149 to Leisure Getaways, the company that sold them the timeshare in the first place.Only then were they released from onerous real estate taxes, monthly maintenance fees and other expenses associated with their share of vacation real estate that they no longer wanted.”It’s easier to get out of prison than out of a timeshare,” Larry Rushing told journalists during a news conference held Tuesday morning at the Better Business Bureau’s South Campbell Avenue outpost.The media event was organized to promote a Better Business Bureau study on the Missouri timeshare industry released Tuesday.
