June 10 – TGC Photo says

…if you’re looking for an escape back in time, swing on by the God and Country Theater on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for California Dreamin’. This show will take you on a movin’, groovin’ tour of one of the most influential musical decades in history: that of the psychedelic 1960’s.
     You’ll float away in memories listening to Up, Up and Away, Aquarius, Monday, Monday, and of course, California Dreamin’. You might also want to tap your toe to Burt Bacharach’s popular tunes like What’s New Pussycat? and Say a Little Prayer.
     You might even raise your eyebrows when you hear the background on songs like These Boots Were Made For Walkin’…it was originally written from the point of view of a 16-year-old girl being hit on by a 50-year-old man! Gives the song a whole new meaning, doesn’t it?
     You’ll also feel empowered by songs like Cass Elliot’s Make Your Own Kind of Music, and songs with a more serious note like Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now will give you something to think about all day long.
     This talented cast features Eric Dalton, Ashley Rose Smith, Chelsie Odom, and Stephen Odom; their tight musical harmonies will leave you and the audience ‘feeling young again’. You’ll have to look hard to find a better rendition of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Waters than you’ll hear in this production. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the 60s!

Go California Dreamin’
And you’re feelin’ real gone;
Aquarius and Mama Cass
Will make you sing along.

Your boots were made for walkin’
In a flower power haze,
The costumes at this 60s show
Can put you in a daze!

With greens and pinks and yellow
Dripped and tied in rainbow hues;
When these guys starts in singin’
There’s no way you’ll have the blues.

So come and hear their music
As they sing of Both Sides Now.
The God and Country Theatre
Is groovy, man, and how!
