PIGEON FORGE, TN – If you’ve been to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, or Branson, Missouri, there’s a good chance you visited — or at least traveled past— Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner theater. Both attractions are dropping the word “Dixie” from their names.
An announcement made Tuesday says that when the two locations open for the 2018 season, which begins later in January for Pigeon Forge and in February for Branson, the attractions will be called Dolly Parton’s Stampede. The attraction website has already been changed to reflect the new name.
World Choice Investments, which operates the Stampede attractions and other attractions for Dolly Parton, quotes Dolly Parton as saying the name change “will remove any confusion or concerns about our shows, and will help our efforts to expand into new cities.”
Also quoted in the announcement, World Choice Investments CEO Jim Rule says: “We continually listen to our guests and our desire to expand coupled with our desire to stay relevant in today’s changing world led us to simplify our shows’ names.”
