BRANSON MO NEWS: Fishing season has begun which means it’s time to find somewhere to find a good fishing hole. There are many places to go fishing in Missouri, and some are close Springfield.A few places close by are Table Rock Lake, Fellows Lake, Stockton Lake and Lake Taneycomo. Table Rock Lake is southwest of Branson and takes around an hour to get there from Missouri State. Table Rock is full of many different types of fish to catch, but, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation, fishermen are more likely to catch bass than anything else. The lake is full of bass such as largemouth, smallmouth, white and spotted bass. Not only are there bass, but you can also catch bluegill, crappie, paddlefish and walleye. Senior Hayden Lee, wildlife conservation and management major and president of the club fishing team, said that Table Rock is also great place to go and bed fish when the fish go shallow because the water is so clear.Fellows LakeWhile Table Rock Lake is around an hour away, Fellows Lake is only 4 miles north of Springfield on Highway 65. The lake is also equipped with a disabled user accessible fishing dock on the northeastern side, a two-lane boat ramp with disabled access and a courtesy dock at the marina area. Fellows Lake is owned by Springfield City Utilities, which requires people who fish on it to have either an annual non-motorized permit for $25, an annual motorized boat permit for $35, or a daily permit for $10 which can be purchased at the marina.
