Galena man sentenced to four years for shooting incident
BRANSON MO NEWS: A Galena man was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after an incident in 2016 where he fired a gun and pointed the weapon at both cars and law enforcement officers.Ronnie Lewis, 54, received the maximum sentence for the charges of two counts of exhibiting a weapon in a threatening manner. According to Stone County Prosecutor Matt Selby, the ruling from Judge Robert Foulke represents the maximum sentence for the charges.According to a press release from the Stone County Prosecutor’s office, on Dec. 11, 2016, there were several 911 calls made reporting a man shooting a gun and pointing it at cars.
“Two Stone County officers went to the location and observed a male, later identified as Ronnie Lewis, standing in the drive thru area of Simmons Bank in Galena holding a gun,” the press release reads. “As the officers approached the man pointed a gun at the officers and then did so again as the officers got out of their vehicles. After a short confrontation the man responded to the commands of the officers, put the gun down, and then got on the ground. He was arrested and taken to jail.”According to the press release, Lewis pleaded guilty to the charges in May. During the sentencing hearing, Lewis said he had been in an accident in 2013, began drinking heavily, and, a few days before the incident, met people who gave him drugs and he had a bad reaction, according to the press release.“He then got his gun and ran into the street firing the gun into the air trying to get help,” the press release states.
