BRANSON MO NEWS: A Tuesday fire near Reeds Spring resulted in the loss of a home, but no injuries.

At 3:03 p.m., units from Western Taney County Fire Protection District were dispatched to a residential fire at Wallace Lane and U.S. 160. According to a press release from the fire district, crews arrived on scene to find a single wide mobile home with heavy smoke showing throughout and an active fire at the rear of the home.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in under 30 minutes

According to the release, a preliminary investigation determined the fire started on the exterior of the home and was caused by an outdoor wood burning furnace and improper disposal of ashes. The embers from the stove and ashes ignited extremely dry leaves and brush next to the home, and eventually the house.

“WTCFPD would like to thank Southern Stone County Fire, Taney County Ambulance, Taney County Sheriff, and the Missouri Highway Patrol for their assistance,” the release reads.

The fire district also reminded homeowners to be cautious clearing dry leaves and brush and to avoid outdoor burning in dry conditions.

“This is the second fire in two weeks caused by unattended burning products outside of a home,” the release states. “Please be cautious until we receive significant rainfall.”
