Limb-different kids build self-confidence at sports camp

BRANSON MO NEWS: DU QUOIN — Hundreds of kids with limb-differences met at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds today for the 6th annual #DontNeed2 Summer Sports Camp for Kids with Limb-differences.Alaina Robb and her parents traveled more than 300 miles to attend the 6th annual #DontNeed 2 Sports Camp. Alaina says it’s comforting being able to interact with so many kids with limb-differences like her.”That most people are like you. I don’t know how to say it like, there more people like you than normal kids,” said Alaina, of Branson, Missouri.This year, the camp added water sports to the camp agenda. Alaina had never gotten in the water with her prosthetic limb before, so getting the chance to try out water sports with it on was a fun experience.”It was awesome, like you can just walk out there and not have to take your leg off, and just jump in and have everyone help you and all that, it’s really fun,” Alaina continued.Many limb-different athletes from across the country volunteered to coach for the camp. Coach Jim Von Normann, from southern California, says he enjoys building confidence in the kids by getting them to try new activities.”Being able …
