LOCAL BRIEFS: Former MU basketball standout Robertson signs with Medi Bayreuth in Germany
BRANSON MO NEWS: Former Missouri basketball standout Kassius Robertson is heading overseas.The guard signed to play with Medi Bayreuth in Germany’s highest professional league, Basketball Bundesliga, the organization announced Wednesday.“After careful consideration, my family, very close friends and I have made the decision that Bayreuth is the best choice for me to start my professional career here,” Robertson said in a release, translated from German to English. “Coach (Raoul) Korner has made it clear to me that his teams are defined by character-excellent and talented, hard-working players. I think that fits perfectly with my profile.”
In his only season as a Tiger, Robertson averaged 16.3 points and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 43.2 percent from beyond the arc. His performance earned him All-SEC honors.Medi Bayreuth finished sixth in the Basketball Bundesliga 2017-18 regular season.MU soccer schedule announcedThe Missouri soccer team announced its schedule, which contains 11 NCAA Tournament teams from 2017, on Wednesday.The Tigers kick off the regular season at Iowa on Aug. 17 and open at home on Aug. 30 against Northwestern.Missouri’s first conference opponent is Kentucky, which the Tigers host on Sept. 13.Missouri will close out the regular season at South Carolina (Oct. 18), at home against Florida (Oct. 21) and at Tennessee (Oct. 25). The Gamecocks, Gators and Volunteers all finished the 2017 season in the Top 25. USC, which the Tigers play on the road on Sept. 7, also finished in the Top 25.South Carolina was the 2017 SEC regular season champion and advanced to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.
