Missouri man accused of dragging horse behind truck

BRANSON MO NEWS: A Missouri man faces charges of drunk driving and animal abuse after eyewitnesses told a reporter they saw him driving past their home twice with a horse tied to the back of his truck.Sasha Martinez said she, her daughter and a family friend were outside their Wright County home Saturday night when they saw a truck on the road going at least 15 mph with a horse tied to the truck trotting behind it, according to a KYTV report.

Martinez, who said she didn’t think too much of the incident, became more alarmed more than an hour later when she saw the truck drive past again. Only this time, Martinez told KYTV, the truck was going the other direction and the horse was being dragged.”He wouldn’t stop, so the only thing I could think to do was just get in front of the truck,” Martinez told KYTV.Curtis Campbell, 63, of Mountain Grove, Mo., was arrested by the Missouri Highway Patrol and has been charged with misdemeanor DWI, first degree animal abuse and failure to register his vehicle.The horse was checked by a veterinarian and, according to KYTV, its condition had improved after the incident.
