Missouri’s Porter Jr. to sit again at Vanderbilt

BRANSON MO NEWS: NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The wait will have to continue.After once again taking the floor with the Missouri men’s basketball team during pregame warmups, freshman phenom Michael Porter Jr. is inactive Tuesday night at Vanderbilt.”I don’t have a timeline, but the most important thing is that he’s healthy and able to play in games,” first-year coach Cuonzo Martin said this past Saturday. “In his case, he wants to play, and I think that the good thing about it but we just have to make sure he’s ready to go from my standpoint, the doctor, the trainer, and watching him through practice and live-game situations.”

He also participated in team activities Tuesday.Weeks ago, in a news conference held in Mizzou Arena, Porter spoke about his want to return before postseason play begins.

Only one game remains — Saturday’s contest against Arkansas.It’s been nearly three months since Porter underwent a microdiskectomy procedure on the L3 and L4 spinal disks. Porter was cleared to for all basketball activities by his Dallas-based doctor last Thursday.
