New Technical Training at OTC Table Rock
BRANSON MO NEWS: HOLLISTER, Mo. — A special ribbon cutting took place on Monday, at a new building for a special program at OTC Table Rock campus — and school administrators say it will help solve the workforce shortage in Branson.City and community leaders were on hand for the presentation. The new program will teach students hands on training in construction and HVAC. Skills the president of OTC says is much needed here in Branson. The program, which was announced last October — is part of an agreement between the OTC board of trustees and the city of Hollister. OTC President, Cliff Davis says it’s just what Branson needs. “Think about the programs that we’re offering here..construction management, heating and air conditioning. Think about what Branson needs. What the Branson area needs,” said Davis, “All of the hotels that we have. All the air conditioning units and heating units that we have.” Hollister School Superintendent, Brian Wilson believes attitudes about education are changing. “One point in time..there was a huge push for college education…and now I think that’s it’s not just college education, but it’s career education,” Wilson said, “Part of that education is going to be technical programs.”When the students are done with the classes here at OTC, they’ll be workforce ready.”These programs will take someone right out of high school — because we do partner with the high school programs — or somebody who is switching careers,” said Davis, “They can finish this program and be gainfully employed right away…making a fantastic living in southwest, Missouri.””They talk about entry level salaries being in the 30-thousand dollar mark.
