Forever Sweet Bakery helping Ripken 12s raise money
NORWALK — Forever Sweet Bakery, with a little help from friends/businesses, is going to help raise money for the Norwalk Cal Ripken 12-year-old All-Star team so it can travel to Branson, Mo., next month for the 2018 Cal Ripken World Series.
Norwalk finished second in the nation as 10-year-olds two years ago.
Forever Sweet Bakery will be donating 100 percent of its sales Tuesday from the bakery, and it will also have a collection box on the counter.
The Bakery also urges other businesses and individuals to help make a donation so these boys can travel to Missouri to play in the Cal Ripken World Series.
Coach Billy Lengyel and sponsorship director Tom Stalzer said the team needs approximately $30,000 to complete their fundraising for the expenses for the team.
Forever Sweet Bakery is located at 4 New Canaan Ave. in Norwalk.
Norwalk Rec and Parks raising funds for Ripken 12s
On Wednesday, July 18, at 7 p.m., before the “Bennie & the Jets” Elton John Tribute Band plays at Calf Pasture Beach, there will be a short ceremony to honor and seek donations for the Norwalk Cal Riken 12-year-old All-Star team’s trip to the 2018 Cal Ripken World Series in Branson, Mo., in August.
Sixteen U.S. teams and eight international teams will fight for the title of world champions. Cal Ripken is on their own when it comes to transportation, lodging & food for the team.
A booth will be set up and some pass-the-hats will be held before and during the concert.
Norwalk Rec and Parks respectfully asks for you to give what you can. Anything will be greatly appreciated.
Checks should be made payable to the Norwalk Cal Ripken League, which is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
