BRANSON MO NEWS: Lempke-Blackwell VFW Post 7573: At a recent state VFW convention, Post 7573 earned three important awards: Honor Post, All-State Commanders Team and Outstanding Community Service Post Award. Lempke-Blackwell Post 7573 is the number one or top post in the state of Michigan for community service. Readers know how involved the post is, especially with the color guard appearing at many events throughout the year in Our Town. The placing of flags at gravesites at four local cemeteries to honor deceased veterans on Memorial Day is another special program it has. Bill Fuller is the commander of Post 7573. This exciting news is well deserved!Reminder: Hathaway school reunion July 8: At noon, be at AMVETS Post 52, 51285 County Line Road, for a wonderful gathering of former students and friends. Bring a dish to pass. The fee is $5 to cover expenses. Beverages supplied. The years are passing, but sharing one day a year of memories of days at the old school is precious. Chairwoman Shirley Parnick Hageman has sent out postcard reminders, and all is ready. Don’t miss an opportunity to see old “buddies” once again. Come and share the love of the Mighty Tars and school colors, red and white.Congratulations to Bay-Rama Parade winners: It rained and rained on the Bay-Rama Parade line-up until 12:35 p.m. And then, at 1 p.m., all was well.
