Thomson reappointed to CBHE
BRANSON MO NEWS: Gov. Mike Parson has reappointed Mike Thomson of Maryville, Missouri, to the Coordinating Board for Higher Education.Thomson served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2007 to 2015, representing Atchison, Holt, Nodaway and Worth counties.He earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Northwest Missouri State University.
Thomson was appointed to the board in April 2016 by former Gov. Jay Nixon, with the new term set for six years. Joe Cornelison, also of Maryville, serves on the higher education board as wekk.Veterans support groupforms in Livingston CountyLivingston County veterans have been laying the groundwork during the past year to form a new support group.The Livingston County Veterans Association, as it will be known, has earned approval from the Internal Revenue Service for status as a not-for-profit charitable organization.Those who are members of the American Legion Post 25 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 858 automatically become part of the new organization. All other veterans are invited to join.The group’s board of directors has been involved in a quiet fundraising campaign that has led toward the startup. About $700,000 of a $1.1 million goal has been raised. A more public phase of the campaign has begun, with hopes for reaching out to businesses, individuals and groups in the area.
