Vehicle reported stolen in Branson crashed in Harrison

Branson, Missouri, Police say they will be working with Harrison Police to help identify a suspect in the theft of a vehicle in Branson that was wrecked late Monday night in Harrison.According to a police daily log, a male subject called the HPD from The Links just after 11 p.m. Monday to report he heard tires squealing followed by a loud bang and he thought there must have been a car crash.Police began searching the area and located an overturned vehicle on Airport Road near Gipson Road. Harrison Fire and Rescue also responded, but there was no one in the vehicle and no sign of the driver.
Officers did determine the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Branson. An initial report said it was a 2018 Kia Sportage registered to Bob’s Rentals Inc. of Springfield, Missouri.Branson Police told the Daily Times the vehicle was reported stolen Sunday, Aug. 19, from the Wyndham on Falls Parkway. However, there were no suspects.Police Chief Paul Woodruff said that as officials checked the area for the driver, they located 31-year-old Robert Cuellar, who gave a Harrison address, sitting beside a barbed wire fence along Gipson Road.Officers noted that he had scratches and bumps on his arms, Woodruff said. He was taken to a patrol car to be questioned.Woodruff said Cuellar told investigators he had been a passenger in the Kia, which he said was driven by a male subject named either Jacob or Jason.He said he got out of the vehicle at Hester Drive and Airport Road when he found out the vehicle was stolen and the driver continued southbound.Woodruff said Cuellar reported watching the vehicle hit a utility pole and roll over, then went to check on the driver he identified as “a friend,” Woodruff …
