BRANSON MO NEWS:

America’s theme parks are no strangers to holiday cheer, but when we asked our readers to choose their favorite theme park holiday event in our 2017 Readers’ Choice contest, An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City came away with the crown for the second time.
And it’s easy to see why park goers love the event so much. During the holiday season, this Branson, Mo. theme park gets decked out with 6.5 million lights and 1,000 decorated trees, including a 5-story special effects Christmas tree.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer stars in the park’s Holly Jolly Christmas Lights Parade, while Christmas classics come alive on the stage during musical adaptations of A Dickens’ Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life. The iconic Silver Dollar City train, illuminated in colorful LED lights, takes park goers on a Christmas sing-along through the scenic Ozark Mountains.
Holiday treats like hot chocolate, wassail and s’mores keep guests warm, while mom and dad can finish up some Christmas shopping – or pick up some new holiday decorations – at Jingle Bell Junction.
“This means so much to us because the end result is determined by our guests, our friends and the loyal fans of Silver Dollar City,” said Brad Thomas, President of Silver Dollar City of the second Readers’ Choice win. “To the many who voted, thank you so very much,” concluded Thomas.
10Best readers aren’t the only ones who can’t get enough of this festive event. The park’s tree was named the best Christmas tree in Missouri by Southern Living, and the Travel Channel called the event one of “8 Holiday Light Displays You Don’t Want to Miss.”
