Young Achievers: Branson-Hollister Rotary selects students for leadership academy

The Branson-Hollister Rotary club selected two local high school students to participate in the Rotary Multi-District Leadership Academy, RYLA. The students, Raleigh Woods, of Branson, and Madison Hatfield, of Hollister, attended the four-day program at William Woods University campus in Fulton, June 26-29.
Raleigh and Madison spoke to the Branson-Hollister Rotary Club at its weekly meeting describing their experience. The program included personality tests, team building projects and culminated with each team creating a service project that can be used in their own communities.
The Missouri RYLA Academy is a training program for high school sophomores and juniors who exhibit a desire for community service. Developed by some of Missouri’s top professional educators, the curriculum is designed to identify and enhance the qualities of servant leadership for each participant, train them on how to successfully implement a service project and inspire them to live a lifetime of “Service Above Self.” In addition, participants are exposed to all the programs and values Rotary has to offer. Established in 1992, Missouri RYLA Academy has trained and inspired more than 2,500 students statewide. It is currently a model for RYLA Academies worldwide.
Miller attends TU film camp
Luke Miller, of Springfield, attended The University of Tulsa’s Filmmaking Camp, July 16-23 on the TU campus. The workshop was hosted by the TU Department of Film Studies and featured sessions on the art, craft and business of the film industry for high school students.
Students had the opportunity to produce and screen their own short films, which debuted to family and friends on the final day of camp.
Miller is a senior at Glendale High School.
