OUR TOWN: Maryann Weins Citizen of the Year, Everything Special Business of the Year
BRANSON MO NEWS: Citizen, Business of the Year: The Citizens Advisory Committee met and selected the 2018 winners recently, continuing a tradition that began in 1971. There will be excitement in the air when the recipients are recognized at a special dinner on May 15 at Cedar Glen Golf Club, 36850 25 Mile Road in Our Town. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. Maryann Weins is a Master Gardener and dedicates hours to preserving and developing flower arrangements in the various flower boxes around town. She may be seen pulling her wagon full of top soil and flats of flowers, digging and planting. She confers with the city and Downtown Development Authority to maintain the vision of the city and its members, regarding the trees and foliage that works best in our environment. Everything Special Florist (“New Baltimore’s Best Kept Secret”), is owned by Yvonne Ricci and located at 35210 23 Mile Road in the Sunshine Plaza. In business for nearly 23 years, she is skilled in her work with floral arrangements and very generous in supporting various events in Our Town. Tickets to the May 15 event cost $25 each and may be purchased from New Baltimore City Hall, 36353 Green St. in Our Town. Let’s be there to greet and congratulate our 2018 top citizen and business.The bricks/pavers are in the ground: Visit the area surrounding our glorious flagpole and flag in Walter and Mary Burke Park (City Park) on Front Street and admire the engraved bricks and the workmanship that placed them in the soil. Under the leadership of New Baltimore Lions Club member Ron Earle and sponsorship of the NB Lions Club, the flagpole and flag was dedicated on Oct. 15, 2016.
